Tuolien muodonmuutos - Chair make over

Olen ollut aikamoisessa flunssassa ja viikko on tullut maattua sohvalla. Tylsää. Tänään oli kuitenkin pakko mennä yläkertaan pariksi tunniksi "pois jaloista". Keskittymiskyky ei ole nyt parhaimmillaan, eikä luovuus, mutta onneksi hyllyllä odotti pari tuolia, jotka kaipasivat muodonmuutosta. Nämä ovat tulossa projektiin, jota  kutsun "Black Roomiksi". "Downton Abbeyn" inspiroimaa...

I have had quite a flu and I´ve been laying on a sofa for a week. Boring. Today I had to go upstairs for a couple of hours, because some work was done downstairs. My concentration or the creativity is not so good at the moment, but fortunately I had two chairs waiting for a little make over. They will have their place in a project I call "Black Room". It´s inspired by the "Downton Abbey"...

Valitettavasti tämä Eamsin lounge-tuoli ei ole mittakaavassa 1:12. Se on vajaat 2 cm liian matala, mutta en masennu; se on ihana esine ja se saa olla hyllyssä ihan vain muistuttamassa siitä, että joskus haluan sen 1:1 koossa...

Unfortunately this Eames´ Lounge Chair doesn´t fit to the 1:12 scale. It´s less than 2 cm too low, but I don´t mind: it´s a wonderfull piece of furniture and I will keep it on the shelf to remind me, that one day I want it in a real 1:1 size...

Alun alken ajattelin, että nukkekotini olisi sisustettu suomalaiseen 20-luvun tyyliin. Suunnitelma muuttui hyvin pian ja siitä on tulossa nykyaikainen talo, jossa on myös vanhoja kalusteita. Kuitenkin hyllylle on alkanut  kerääntyä tavaraa, jotka ansaitsisivat ihan oman interiöörinsä.

Päässäni on alkanut muhia idea room boxista, jossa asukkaana olisi jo edesmennyt Linda-mummoni. Linda-mummo eli hyvin vaatimatonta elämää yksinkertaisissa puitteissa. Teen boxista sellaisen, mutta höystettynä niillä pienillä "ylellisyyksillä", joita hän ei itselleen koskaan suonut.

Kaapin olen tehnyt itse, muut ovat ostotavaraa.

When I started my dollhouse, I thought it would be decorated in a finnish, old fashioned style. That plan has changed and it´s becoming a modern house with some old furniture. I have noticed, that I have been still collecting old fashioned things, that would need a very own interior.

There is an idea in my head: a room box in a twenties style, and the person who lives there is my grandmother Linda, who has passed away more than thirty years ago. she was a very modest person and lived a very simple life. I´ll make a box like that and add some small "luxury" that she never allowed herself.

The closet i have made by myself, the other things are bought.

Kun olin lapsi, oli meillä kotona paljon jännittäviä Mercantil-mappeja. Niissä pidettiin valokuvia, kirjeitä. Niihin talletettiin ideoita, kaavoja, neulemalleja ja kaikkea muuta, mitä ihminen haluaa säilyttää. Mappi oli sen ajan Pinterest. Nukkekodin emännälläkin on mappeja...

When I was a child, we had a lot of exciting folders at home. There were photos, letters, pictures of nice ideas; all sorts of nice things in them. A folder was like Pinterest that time. Of course there are some folders in a dollhouse too...

Talonpoikaissohvan evoluutio - The evolution of a farmhouse style sofa

Järjestelin tuossa kuva-albumeita uuteen uskoon ja katselin samalla kuvia harrastukseni alkutaipaleelta, eli alkaen tammikuu 2011. Yksi ensimmäisiä kalusteitani oli talonpoikaissohva, jota rupesin näpräämään, kun en onneton osannut pelätä... Ajatus talon tyylistä ja sohvan paikasta on muuttunut parissa vuodessa jonkin verran. Alunperin se oli tarkoitus sijoittaa keittiön ruokapöydän ääreen, mutta nyt se on siis löytänyt paikkansa yläkerrasta löhöilypaikkana ja levitettävänä vierasvuoteena.

I was organizing my photoalbums and of course, took a look through them. One of my first self made furnitures was this traditional farmhouse style bedsofa in January 2011, which I started making, cause as a beginner I was fearless... The idea of the style of the house and the place of the sofa has changed a bit in almost two years. Originally I was going to use it in the kitchen, but it ended up in upstairs and is used for lounging and as a guest bed, which you can spread for two.

Before I tell you, who the winner is, I wanto to thank you for all your lovely comments. I guessed, that nobody starts telling bad things, and the positive comments are of course nicer to read, but it was nice to notice, that many of you like the garden so much.
When I got the garden ready for the Garden Show Lahti in April, I thought that this is it. But not! While reading your comments I decided that that I will expand the garden and I will strart working on it when the real life garening season is over. The first piece of furniture is waiting to get into the pergola...

Vielä lämmin viikonloppu - One more warm weekend

Syksy tekee tuloaan hurjaa vauhtia. Vielä on kuitenkin aikaa nauttia puutarhasta ja sen antimista. Myöhäiset kukkijat kukkivat vielä, kasvihuoneessa on sato parhaimmillaan ja puut notkuvat omenien painosta. Matalalta tuleva valokin on erityisen kaunis.

Autumn is coming. Still we have the time and possibility to enjoy the garden. Late bloomers still bloom, green houses give tomatoes and the appletree branches are heavy with fruits. Sunlight comes low and it´s especially beautifull.

Yläkerran somistusta - Decorating upstairs

Tottakai yläkerran musiikkihuone näytti valjulta: eihän siellä ollut oikeastaan kuin mööpelit. Vinon katon takia sisustaminen on tietysti hieman haastavaa, mutta ajattelin että julisteet tuovat vähän ilmettä ja yksi huonekasvi on tietysti aina paikallaan. Herra on tainnut koota seinälle lempimuusikkonsa ja -yhtyeensä. Kuvat on printattu netistä.

Of course the upstairs musicroom looked a bit dull as there were only furniture. Inclined ceiling is cahellengiing when it comes to decorating, but I thought that some posters an a plant will give the room some character. I think the Mr. of the house has put his favorite musicians on the wall. The pictures are printed from the internet.

Rouvakin sai viherkasvin somistamaan työhuonettaan.
Also the Mrs. got a plant to sweeten her hobby room.

Uusi lattia - New floor

Yläkerran lattiaremonttia tehdessä kävi niin kuin usein käy: materiaali loppui kesken... Onneksi apuun riensivät Facebook-ryhmän auttavat ystävät ja postissa sain Bilteman tikkuja lisää ja lattia saatiin kuntoon. Kiitokset vielä asianosaisille :)

It happened, like it often does: not enough materials... With the help of my Facebook-friends I was able to finish the project. Thank you one more time!

Vuodesohvaan vaihdettiin valkoinen, raikas päiväpeitto ja Haglundin Ninan tekemät tyynyt pääsivät sitä somistamaan. Mustavalkoinen, oljenkeltainen ja turkoosi ovat aika säpäkkä yhdistelmä, eikö vain?

Sofa got a new white, fresh cover. The pillows are made by Nina Haglund. I love the black and white, yellow and turquoise together...

TV vielä seinälle. Hmmm.jotain vielä puuttuu... Aika montakin juttua, mutta niistä ensi kerralla!

And then TV on the wall. Hmmm, something is still missing... Actually quite a few things, but about them the next time!

I have spent most of the summer in the garden. We have built quite a few things and now, as the summer is soon coming to the end, we work hard on our greenhouse, so it would be ready for the next spring and we get all the tomatoes and chilies there.

Our friend has his 40th birthday. He has a passion for motorcycling and he is fanatic about the Harley Davidsons. I built this box for him as a present. On the walls there are pictures from his own trips and family. Route 66-sign and -picture present his dream to drive through USA.

Kouluun! - To School!

Naapurimme, Henry 6 v, meni viime viikolla ensimmäiselle luokalle. Halusin antaa hänelle jotain, joka muistuttaa tästä syksystä.
(Jos olisin ollut fiksu, olisin kuvannut tämän ennen lasin liimaamista paikalleen...)

Boxin olen ostanut kirpparilta, kouluvihkon, kynän ja teroittimen hain paperikaupasta. Pohjana on musta kartonki, jolle on kirjoitettu "liidulla", eli puuvärillä. "H" on sellainen sisustuskirjain, joita myydään kaikissa ihanissa rihkamakaupoissa.

Our neighbour, Henry 6 yrs, started the first class last week. I wanted to give him something, that reminds him about this autumn.
(If I had been smart, Iwould have taken the photos before I put the glass on...)
